Fake "police officer" scam in the Mogilno region. Second suspect in custody
Investigators have detained 22-year-old Robert K., who together with an accomplice defrauded a woman from Inowrocław of 50 thousand zloty. The man had been in hiding for several weeks before officers found him in the capital of Lower Silesia.
The entire matter began in late May 2026. Two con artists contacted the victim, posing as police officers, and persuaded her to hand over cash. After obtaining the money, they fled by Mercedes in the direction of Mogilno.
On the way, however, they fell into the hands of a traffic police patrol. Officers stopped them due to having lights not switched on. The driver stopped briefly, then suddenly accelerated and began to flee. Officers gave chase, which ended in the detention of one of them – Maksymilian M.
The second perpetrator remained at large until mid-June. Then detectives established his location in Wrocław and made an arrest. The prosecutor's office brought Robert K. a series of charges: from participation in fraud, through failure to comply with control and assault on a police officer, to possession of narcotics and use of someone else's registration plates.
The court decided to remand the suspect in custody for three months. His accomplice is also being held in temporary detention. For this type of crime, a sentence of up to ten years imprisonment is possible.
