The prosecutor's office has decided to discontinue the investigation into a defective IT system ordered by the Railway Protection Guard (SOK). The complainant does not agree with this decision and has filed an appeal – according to RMF FM.
Between 2019 and 2022, SOK ordered what is known as an Interactive Database. For this solution, it paid nearly 14.5 million zloty. The problem was that a product was accepted which did not work at all and was never implemented. No one verified whether it met the contract requirements.
The notification also covered the matter of false entries in acceptance protocols. These documents stated that everything was functioning correctly and in accordance with the contract.
Investigators justified the discontinuation by citing a lack of grounds to attribute a crime to anyone regarding the first issue. In the second matter, they concluded that the act did not exhibit prohibited characteristics. Details of the decision have not been made public.
The proceedings concerned persons employed at PKP Polish Railway Lines, within the structures of which the Railway Protection Guard operates. Investigators examined whether anyone should be held responsible for causing significant property damage to the company.
Filing an appeal means that the matter will now be taken up by the court.
