Prosecution to secure documentation of Southern Hospital following questioning of former department head
Following the questioning of Emil Jędrzejewski, the prosecution announced additional safeguarding of medical documentation. The list of witnesses in the investigation is growing.
Second questioning of former department head – prosecution expands investigation
According to pap.pl, following the conclusion of questioning of the former head of surgery at Warsaw Southern Hospital, Emil Jędrzejewski, the prosecution announced an expansion of investigative measures. Piotr Antoni Skiba, spokesman for the Warsaw Regional Prosecutor's Office, informed that additional safeguarding of medical and organisational documentation from the facility is necessary.
Jędrzejewski appeared on Monday at the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw accompanied by his legal representative. It was his second questioning in the course of the investigation concerning the hospital. The questioning protocol totals 29 pages – the procedure lasted the entire day.
"Given the additional information that was provided to prosecutors today, we see the necessity of additional safeguarding of medical documentation and organisational documentation from Southern Hospital. The list of witnesses is growing. This concerns mainly medical staff," explained prosecutor Skiba.
He noted that based on the materials obtained, further questionings in the capacity of witnesses have already been planned, which are to take place later this week – both at the Regional Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw and at the Central Anti-Corruption Bureau.
Jędrzejewski's first questioning took place the previous Wednesday, after the doctor gave an interview to Zero Channel on Tuesday evening the day before. In it, he stated among other things that medical procedures on the emergency ward of Southern Hospital were being performed incorrectly, and medical errors led to complications that in some cases resulted in patient deaths. During that earlier questioning, the witness stated that he did not wish to testify without his legal representative's participation – the next date was set for 29 June.
