Igor M., known as "Patyk", will receive over 3.2 million złoty in compensation and damages from the state for unlawful deprivation of liberty in an investigation concerning the murder of former chief commander of police Marek Papała.

The court ordered the State Treasury to pay Igor M., known as "Patyk", a sum exceeding 3.2 million złoty. The money constitutes compensation and damages for unlawful deprivation of his liberty.
The man was detained and arrested in connection with an investigation into the murder of former chief commander of police, Marek Papała. In time, it emerged that the charges against him were unfounded.
The court ruling brings an end to a years-long dispute over compensation for wrongful arrest in one of the most high-profile criminal cases in Poland.
