Warsaw prosecutors are conducting two proceedings regarding irregularities at Southern Hospital, in which 28-year-old Dawid Kacprzyk figures—a Civic Coalition politician and former Ursus district councillor.

Warsaw investigators are examining two lines of allegations against 28-year-old Dawid Kacprzyk, who served as coordinator of the hospital emergency department at a facility on Ursynów. The man is also a former councillor of Ursus district representing the Civic Coalition.
One of the ongoing cases concerns the issuance of billing documents with inflated amounts for shifts in the emergency department and intensive care unit. According to prosecutors, the hospital may have lost at least 558 thousand zloty as a result. The second line of investigation examines oversight of the emergency department's operations and control of the entire facility by municipal officials.
The entire matter was revealed to the media by Dr Emil Jędrzejewski, previously associated with the same hospital in the position of head of surgery. In an interview with Kanał Zero, the doctor accused Kacprzyk of lacking qualifications to independently manage the emergency department and of invoking his political connections. Jędrzejewski suggested that these omissions may have contributed to patient deaths.
When the former head of surgery appeared at the prosecutor's office, he was unwilling to answer questions without a lawyer. He only submitted a list of names of people who, in his opinion, had suffered, and requested a different date. Investigators did not agree, pointing out that he possessed significant information. The next interrogation was scheduled for the coming Monday. Kacprzyk himself has not yet been summoned—prosecutors emphasise that he is not the first person in the queue.
The Supreme Medical Council has also become involved in the matter. Its spokesman Jakub Kosikowski informed that a report was filed regarding possible abandonment of duty and endangering patients. Following media publications, the material was expanded. Kacprzyk is to be summoned for questioning before the Professional Liability Ombudsman. A motion for temporary suspension of his professional licence is being prepared.
Should the allegations be confirmed in medical court, he would face a penalty ranging from a reprimand to a lifelong prohibition on practice. The proceedings before this body could, however, last from two to five years. The Council receives unofficial signals from other employees at the facility who confirm that Kacprzyk worked independently immediately after his internship, which would be contrary to applicable regulations.
The current head of surgery at the facility, Piotr Szenk, denied reports of disastrous conditions in the department. Kacprzyk's attorney, Jacek Dubois, in turn announced a lawsuit against Jędrzejewski.
