The Podlaskie Border Guard Division conducted an arrest in Kielce of two Ukrainian citizens. The pair are suspected of involvement in human smuggling across the border from Belarus.

On Sunday 28 June, shortly before noon, Border Guard officers conducted an operation in a car park on Dąbrowska Street in Kielce, between blocks numbered 5 and 8. As a result, a man and a woman – both Ukrainian citizens – were apprehended by operational forces.
Residents of the area had reported noises resembling gunshots. As TVP Kielce explains, the uniformed officers used flash-bang grenades and then entered the premises occupied by the wanted man. They managed to overpower him and put him in handcuffs.
The spokesman for the Podlaskie Border Guard Division, Second Lieutenant Michał Bury, confirmed only that his subordinates had acted in the capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship on the orders of the prosecution authorities. He declined to comment on further details, citing restrictions imposed by the prosecutor's office.
During the operation, the woman's state of health deteriorated sharply. She was placed under the care of doctors, and after stabilisation returned under the supervision of the officers.
According to information obtained by TVP Kielce journalists, the entire operation was a previously prepared part of an investigation into smuggling people across the green Poland-Belarus border. The arrested individuals are to be taken to a Border Guard unit in Białowieża.
Organising illegal border crossing is punishable by imprisonment of up to eight years.
