Lawyer gunned down in broad daylight in Ponce
Lawyer Luis Quiñones, known as "Passi", was murdered on Friday on Las Américas Avenue in Ponce, according to confirmation to primerahora.com by Félix Guilbe, director of the Homicide Division of the Ponce police region.
The incident occurred around 10:45 a.m. Quiñones was driving his white RAM pickup when another vehicle approached him and its occupants fired at him repeatedly. A call to 9-1-1 alerted the authorities.
"He was driving, another vehicle approached him and fired shots at him," Guilbe said.
The glass on the driver's side showed 11 bullet impacts. Images from the scene show how the lawyer's vehicle veered off and ended up on a grassy area at a nearby intersection.
Quiñones was transported in a private vehicle to a hospital in the area, where he died whilst receiving medical attention.
Guilbe described the deceased as a well-known lawyer who handled criminal cases in Ponce. Police chose not to disclose the description of the vehicle linked to the crime.
The motive for the murder is unknown at this time, given that the investigation is in its early stages. Ponce's Homicide Division is handling the case.
