Investigators from the Northern Department of the Judicial Police detained an individual aged thirty, domiciled in Porto, suspected of being part of a criminal group dedicated to the sending of illicit substances through the postal service.
The arrest is part of an investigation opened last year, following the discovery of a box containing approximately half a kilogramme of cannabis at a CTT counter in Maia, which was to be sent to Dutch territory. That initial seizure triggered a series of operations that, in December, resulted in the arrest of three other accomplices.
Detectives subsequently discovered the existence of a fourth member, who was now detained pursuant to a court order issued outside of a flagrant situation. During searches, officers confiscated cannabis and hashish resin, gathering substantial evidence regarding the operation of the organisation.
The accused was heard in court, and was subject to precautionary measures requiring him to report twice a week, prohibiting contact with third parties and requiring the surrender of his travel document.
