Trial of Duarte Lima for homicide in Saquarema begins on 5th in Sintra
Lawyer and former PSD secretary-general Duarte Lima goes to trial on suspicion of the homicide of Rosalina Ribeiro, at the Sintra court.

Mobile phone records and speeding fines link Duarte Lima to crime scene
The trial for the homicide of Rosalina Ribeiro begins next Thursday, the 5th, at Sintra court. As reported by Correio da Manhã, the only defendant is lawyer Duarte Lima, former secretary-general of the PSD, suspected of having murdered the secretary of millionaire Lúcio Tomé Feteira on 7 December 2009, in Saquarema, Brazil.
Duarte Lima has always denied any involvement in the crime. However, the proceedings contain evidence that contradicts the defendant's account of his whereabouts at the time of the facts.
Mobile masts and fines place defendant in Saquarema
According to weekly magazine Sol, the proceedings include records of mobile phone mast activations in the crime area, as well as speeding fines issued in the name of Duarte Lima. These elements place the defendant in the vicinity of Saquarema both on the eve and on the day of the homicide—contradicting what he himself has always maintained.
Transfer of €5.2 million at centre of prosecution
The Brazilian Public Ministry points to a transfer of €5.2 million from the victim's account to the defendant's account as the motive for the crime. Duarte Lima argues that the sum corresponds to fees for legal services he provided.
Rosalina Ribeiro was shot dead in Saquarema, Brazil, in December 2009. The trial will take place in Portugal, at Sintra court.
