13-year-old student from Timișoara photographed with knife in classroom and posted on TikTok
A 13-year-old boy from "Nikolaus Lenau" High School in Timișoara brought a knife to school and posted a photograph of himself with it on TikTok. Police have opened a criminal case — the third incident involving weapons in Romanian schools in four days.

An eighth-grade student at "Nikolaus Lenau" Theoretical High School in Timișoara brought a knife to school on Wednesday, 21 October, and asked a classmate to photograph him holding the object in the classroom. The photograph was subsequently posted on TikTok, accompanied by a message in English: "I am the coolest, but some do not see it", according to Cotidianul.ro.
The school's management did not learn about the incident from teachers, but rather from an anonymous email to which the photograph was attached. The sender of the message reported the risk to student safety and requested intervention by authorities.
After receiving the report, the school alerted police. Officers arrived at the educational facility and identified the student. Before the police, the boy allegedly claimed that the object did not belong to him and that it was a toy. He refused to indicate where the knife was located.
Police self-initiated proceedings and opened a criminal case for the carrying and unauthorised use of dangerous objects in public institutions. The investigation is to establish the circumstances in which the object was brought to school and what happened to it subsequently.
The sender of the anonymous email also stated that the student had had other behavioural problems previously. These claims represent the allegations of the person who made the report and are to be verified by authorities.
The case in Timișoara is the third serious incident recorded in schools in Romania over a period of four days. On Monday, a 13-year-old student attacked a teacher and a classmate with a knife at a school in Bistrița — both victims required medical care, and the investigation included analysis of messages posted by the boy on social networks before the attack. On Thursday, a 15-year-old student entered the grounds of "Armand Călinescu" Technical College in Pitești with a machete and injured two classmates.
