Constanța official detained after accepting 20,000-lei bribe
An employee of the Constanța Territorial Labour Inspectorate was detained by anti-corruption prosecutors on 9 June under suspicion of corruption. The woman, a labour inspector, allegedly received 20,000 lei from a businessman directly in the office of the institution where she works.
Investigators claim that in June 2026, the official requested money from the representative of a commercial company. In exchange for the sum, she allegedly undertook not to report labour law violations discovered and not to apply fines, following an inspection carried out on 3 June.
The transaction took place on 9 June at the Constanța ITM headquarters. Prosecutors organised a sting operation and caught her at the moment she received the money. She was informed of the charges in accordance with Article 309 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
The following day, on 10 June, she was to be brought before judges at the Constanța Court, who were to decide whether to place her in preventive detention for 30 days.
