Police officers from five counties are carrying out 75 house searches in a tax evasion case linked to property intermediaries.

More than 70 raids are taking place on Thursday in Timiş, Alba, Arad, Gorj and Hunedoara counties, in an investigation targeting tax fraud in the field of property transactions. The operation, termed "Jupiter", is coordinated by police specialising in combating economic crime.
Investigators have established that several persons allegedly prejudiced the state budget through property operations carried out without declaring actual income. The estimated amount of unreported sums exceeds 1.5 million lei, and the total prejudice could reach approximately 5 million lei.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seize documents and evidence from the suspects' homes. To date, four persons have been brought in for questioning.
The investigation is being conducted under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office attached to Alba County Court, and the operation is receiving support from the police inspectorates of the five targeted areas.
