Albina police have detained a 31-year-old woman from Brazil on suspicion of killing her 36-year-old partner. The man was also from the neighbouring country. He succumbed to a stab wound to his abdomen.
The stabbing took place on 18 June in an apartment complex in the border town. An investigation revealed that the couple had been drinking alcohol throughout the day. When officers arrived, the victim was already dead. The suspect, identified as S.C., was found at the scene and taken to the police station. The sharp object was secured for investigation. On the orders of the Public Prosecution Service, the body of the victim, identified as T.S., was also seized to allow for an autopsy to be performed.
The case has since been handed over to the Capital Crimes division of the Suriname Police Force (KPS). This report is based on an article from De Ware Tijd Online.
