Suspect with four aliases held after eight complaints in Paramaribo
A man who operated in Paramaribo under at least four different names has been arrested on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement. This is reported by De Ware Tijd based on information from the Suriname Police Corps.
The suspect, identified as M.J. and also known as 'Ricky', 'Bigs', 'Rambali' and 'Rohit', was apprehended by the Quick Response Team after the Criminal Intelligence Unit (CIU) of the Suriname Police Corps had identified him. Eight persons have filed complaints against him.
According to the complaints, M.J. approached the victims claiming he worked at the Land Office and was able to arrange land parcels in exchange for payment. Through this method, he received money from the victims — both in cash and via bank transfers.
After consultation with the Public Prosecutor's Office, M.J. has been remanded in custody.
