Jewellery store in Maho targeted in failed break-in attempt

Three male suspects attempted to rob a jewellery store in the Maho area of Sint Maarten on the evening of October 8th, 2026, according to 721news Sint Maarten. The incident drew multiple calls to Police Central Dispatch at around 8:50 p.m.

Video footage circulating on social media showed the three suspects, all dressed in dark clothing, making repeated attempts to force open the glass door at the main entrance of the store. Despite several tries, they failed to gain entry.

After the failed break-in, the three men got into a getaway vehicle that had been parked directly in front of the store. They then fled towards Lowlands in the direction of the French side of the island.

Uniformed patrol officers and detectives were dispatched to the scene immediately following the reports. Forensic Department personnel subsequently processed the crime scene and collected evidence.

The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) states the investigation is ongoing. Investigators are appealing to anyone who was in the Maho area at the time, witnessed suspicious activity, saw the suspects or their vehicle, or holds any relevant information, to come forward and contact KPSM.
