A man driving a white Volkswagen was taken into police custody after causing a traffic accident involving a motorcycle and leaving the scene. The incident occurred at the intersection of Moulins and Nogoyá streets, leaving two people injured.
Officers from the Fourth Police Station were dispatched to the location after receiving a call alerting them to a collision between a car and a motorcycle. Upon arrival, the officers confirmed that the smaller-displacement vehicle, which was travelling along Moulins Street in a west-east direction, had been disabled.
According to initial investigations, the light-coloured car had struck the two-wheeled vehicle and the driver had left the scene without offering assistance. However, the officers managed to recover the registration plate of the car, which became detached as a result of the impact.
In response to the situation, assistance was requested from the emergency service 107, which transported both the motorcycle driver and their passenger to the Delicia Concepción Masvernat hospital. The authorities provided no official information about the extent of the injuries.
Some time after the incident, the driver of the car appeared at the Colonia Yeruá Police Station with the vehicle. In his statement, he claimed that he left because, following the collision, individuals present in the area threatened him and he feared for his physical safety.
The duty judge, José Arias, ordered a series of actions to clarify the facts. Among these, he ordered that blood be drawn from both drivers for routine tests. Furthermore, he ordered the detention of the driver and the retention of the Volkswagen to carry out expert analysis on how the collision occurred.
The case remains under judicial investigation in its initial phase, pending the results of the measures ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
