A 27-year-old man was captured after robbing a pharmacy in central Montevideo using clothing that simulated an official uniform.

In the early hours of this Sunday, a 27-year-old man was taken into custody following an operation conducted in connection with a robbery at a pharmacy located at the intersection of Avenida 18 de Julio and Joaquín Requena. The information was confirmed by the Montevideo Police Command in a statement accessed by El Observador.
The incident occurred in the early morning hours when an alert was issued regarding a robbery carried out by a person wearing clothing belonging to security officers.
Following the report, a tracking operation was set up that led to the apprehension of the suspected perpetrator at a bus stop on Avenida General Rivera and Pedro Campbell.
During a search, officers removed an unloaded firearm that had a theft seizure warrant against it, along with a jacket and trousers that replicated official institutional attire. In addition, they seized mobile phones, fragrances, a backpack, a winter cap, a blunt object, and various identity documents.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent prosecutor's office, which will continue with the corresponding investigations.
