The man was subjected to a search in which officers seized two packages containing a white substance, a spoon with residue of the same material, and a bag containing 957 pesos in cash.
According to information from the Ministry of the Interior, officers transported the arrested man to the corresponding police station, where he was placed at the disposal of the judicial system. Following a hearing, the defendant received a sentence of two years in prison for being the author of an offence of commercialising prohibited substances for profit.
The case is part of surveillance operations that law enforcement forces routinely carry out at various locations in Montevideo to combat the trafficking of narcotics in public spaces.
