Police detained four adults during an extensive operation deployed on Thursday across different areas of Concordia, according to a report by Diario Río Uruguay.
The operation was carried out in the afternoon and evening hours, with personnel from the Departmental Police Headquarters and support from Special Guards from other regions. The arrested individuals were placed at the disposal of the judiciary as part of investigations linked to alleged drug trafficking and possession of narcotics.
During the operation, officers raided a small wooden structure that, according to investigations, served as a clandestine point for the distribution of narcotics. Inside, packages containing cocaine and marijuana were found, as well as a homemade firearm accompanied by .22 calibre ammunition.
Additionally, a motorcycle was seized that had an active seizure order since 2020, within an investigation for theft.
The operation also included checks in public spaces, where the identity of 120 citizens was verified and 48 motorcycles were inspected. Two of these vehicles were retained for traffic regulation violations.
Police authorities highlighted that these interventions are in line with the surveillance and prevention strategy being implemented in different neighbourhoods of the town.
