A 66-year-old woman was found beaten to death on Monday morning in her residence located at the intersection of Emilia Pardo Bazán and Hocquart, in the La Aguada neighbourhood of Montevideo. According to confirmation from elpais.com.uy, sources from the Montevideo Police Headquarters indicated that the case is at a full investigative stage.
The discovery was made after the Emergency Services 911 received a call alerting them to a "person down" inside the residence. Upon arrival, police officers verified the situation and requested the presence of medical emergency personnel, whose staff confirmed the woman's death.
Head wounds and possible attempted robbery
Information gathered by Telemundo (Teledoce) and Telenoche (Channel 4) indicates that the victim's body was found in the residence's courtyard and showed head wounds as a result of the beating suffered. The motive for the crime is still unclear, although a possible attempted robbery has not been ruled out.
Police inspected the residence and collected various items of interest for the investigation. Officers from the Investigation Area of Operational Zone I, the Homicides Department and Scientific Police worked at the scene.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of 154 grammes of drugs.
Homeless man found dead in El Prado
On Sunday night, a 49-year-old man was found dead at the corner of Joaquín Suárez and Ruy Barboza, in the El Prado neighbourhood of Montevideo. The victim was homeless and had arrived at the location on foot approximately one hour before being found, according to a witness's statement to police.
Staff from the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) of ASSE confirmed the death. Police officers initially ruled out signs of violent death, and investigators are seeking to determine whether factors such as winter cold may have contributed to the deterioration of his health. The scene was preserved and the competent prosecutor and forensic doctor were notified.
Days earlier, another homeless man was found dead in the vicinity of Pantanoso stream. The body was found next to an improvised shelter made of cloth, sticks and rope located under a bridge on Camino Tomkinson.
Another unidentified body in Cerro
The Montevideo Headquarters also reported on Monday an additional death in a public place. It is an unidentified man whose body was found on Japón Street near the corner of Vigo, in the Cerro neighbourhood. A preliminary inspection revealed no signs of violence on the body, and the investigation continues to determine the circumstances of the death.
