A 65-year-old man has been apprehended and subsequently formally charged with the murder of his female partner, also 65, in a residence in the La Aguada neighbourhood. The arrest came after authorities found that his account of events did not match what was recorded by security surveillance systems in the area.

The victim's body was discovered on Monday at a residence located at the intersection of Emilia Pardo Bazán and Hocquart. The woman bore numerous head injuries that appeared to have been inflicted with some kind of blunt instrument—possibly a floor tile or iron bar—according to initial assessments.

As the investigation began, detectives considered various lines of enquiry into what may have triggered the attack. They took statements from relatives, neighbours and people who had been in the vicinity of the location during the night, and reviewed footage captured by security cameras in the area.

The man now facing charges had stated that he left the home at approximately 7:00 to attend a medical appointment. However, the recorded footage did not support this account, leading to his arrest.

At a formalisation hearing held on Tuesday, the 2nd shift Homicide Prosecution Service charged him with aggravated homicide based on the family relationship. The court ordered his preventive detention for a period of six months, during which time the prosecution will continue gathering evidence to clarify the incident.
