Security forces deployed a series of targeted procedures in the Marconi and Cerro neighbourhoods of Montevideo, resulting in three people apprehended. The operation involved the participation of Police Headquarters of the capital, the General Directorate of Special Operations and the National Republican Guard Directorate.
According to information provided by the Ministry of the Interior, the deployment included an increase in personnel, armoured vehicles and unmanned aircraft. The Unified Command Centre and Police Aviation also participated, with support from various units of the National Police.
Among those detained are two adults, who were held pending charges of contempt. The third person apprehended is a minor, detained in connection with a domestic violence incident.
These procedures form part of a strategy aimed at strengthening prevention, deterrence and crime suppression through increased state presence in areas identified as sensitive. The main objective is to combat organised crime activity in those sectors of the city.
