Suspect left jurisdiction before Killarney murder discovered
A person of interest in the killing of an American woman in Co Kerry left Ireland before her body was found, according to carlowlive.ie, which reports that An Garda Síochána confirmed the development on Thursday.
The body of Jamey Carney, a woman in her 40s, was discovered at a property on Muckross Road in Killarney on Tuesday. Gardaí launched a murder investigation following the discovery.
Investigators announced they are "satisfied that a person of interest in this investigation left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday," before the body was discovered and reported to police. Gardaí said they are now working with international law enforcement partners.
The Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) are both assisting the investigation team.
Gardaí are appealing for any person who was in the Muckross Road area of Killarney between 11pm on 6 July and 5am on 7 July 2026 and who may hold camera footage — including CCTV or dashcam recordings — to make that material available to investigators.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
