Kray twins enforcer Freddie Foreman dies aged 94

Freddie Foreman, the London gangland figure long associated with the Kray twins, has died at the age of 94, the Daily Express reports.

Known by the nicknames 'The Guv'nor' and 'Brown Bread Fred' — the latter derived from cockney rhyming slang for the word 'dead' — Foreman was widely referred to as the 'Godfather of Crime'. He served as an enforcer for the Kray twins and, earlier in his criminal career, as a minder for 1950s gang boss Billy 'King of the Underworld' Hill.

Foreman also maintained close ties to the Great Train robbers. In 1983, he was involved in the Security Express cash heist, which netted £6 million — a record-breaking sum at the time.

Tributes have begun to arrive following news of his death. Further details are expected.
