Murder arrest after fatal incident at Clacton-on-Sea caravan park
A 39-year-old man from Ingatestone has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead inside a caravan in Essex, bbc.co.uk reports.
Essex Police were called to the Valley Road Caravan Park in Clacton-on-Sea at approximately 21:15 BST on Wednesday, following reports of a man making threats. Officers found a man in his 40s, from Frinton-on-Sea, injured inside a caravan. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The arrested man also faces a separate charge of suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker. Following his arrest, he was taken to hospital for treatment to a hand injury.
Detective Inspector Tim Coyles said the force does not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider public. "My thoughts this morning are with the family of the man who died last night," he said.
Coyles added that investigators believe the two men were known to each other. "We have already made good progress at building a picture of what took place and, at this stage, we believe both men were known to each other," he said.
The detective inspector also appealed for witnesses. "I believe there will be a number of people who saw or heard something last night that may be helpful to our investigation and I urge them to come forward," Coyles said.
Essex Police said they would work to provide the victim's family with answers about what happened.
