Murder probe into Carrie Mullane disappearance: PSNI searches Lough Erne for Limerick woman

PSNI issues public appeal over boat and campervan linked to Carrie Mullane case

Searches are ongoing across several locations in Northern Ireland, including Lough Erne, for the body of Carrie Mullane, a 39-year-old mother from Limerick, bbc.com reports.

The PSNI believe Mullane was murdered after she arrived in Enniskillen on 10 October. A man remains in police custody, being questioned on suspicion of murder.

A small boat recovered from beneath the water near Tullyinnishmore jetty outside Enniskillen was removed from the scene on board a barge on Friday. That vessel, along with a campervan, now form part of the murder investigation.

At a press conference in Enniskillen, Detective Superintendent Richard Thornton appealed to the public for information on the movements of both vehicles. "We are releasing images of a boat and a campervan today that we believe are linked to Carrie's disappearance and suspected murder," Thornton said. "Establishing the movements of these could yield vital evidence in the search for Carrie."

Thornton called on anyone who may have seen the boat or campervan between the late hours of 10 October and 1 November to come forward. He also appealed for dash-cam, doorbell or other relevant footage. "In particular I would like to appeal to boat owners on Upper Lough Erne who may have seen this boat on the lough in between these dates," he added.

The area around Tullyinnishmore jetty on Lough Erne has been cordoned off by police. A diver entered the water from the river bank around lunchtime, and a police boat is also operating on the lough.
