Norwegian teenager sentenced to 20 years over Huddersfield murder-for-hire plot

A 19-year-old Norwegian national has been sentenced to 20 years' detention for conspiracy to murder, bbc.co.uk reports.

Johannes Natland was arrested in March 2025 in a hotel room in Huddersfield, where police found two working firearms and 19 rounds of live ammunition. He had travelled from Norway to the UK to carry out a "hit" on behalf of an organised crime group.

During his retrial at the Old Bailey, a jury heard that Natland had been "recruited" by the Foxtrot Network, described as a Swedish organised crime group operating with backing from the Iranian regime.

Natland had previously admitted to possessing the firearms and ammunition. A jury unanimously found him guilty of conspiracy to murder, and he was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday.
