Bradenton suspect drives onto sidewalk, rams business during fentanyl investigation

A Bradenton man is in custody after fleeing detectives during a narcotics investigation, nearly hitting a pedestrian, and crashing into a local pet hotel, mysuncoast.com reports.

Joshua Yarn was already the subject of an active fentanyl-related investigation when Manatee County Sheriff's Office detectives moved to take him into custody. Yarn drove off in a grey Toyota RAV4, striking an undercover sheriff's vehicle in the process.

He then drove north along a pedestrian sidewalk in front of a shopping plaza. A woman walking on the pavement was forced to jump onto a nearby retaining wall and into bushes to avoid being hit, according to detectives.

The driver of a third undercover vehicle intervened to prevent further danger to pedestrians. That manoeuvre led to a minor collision and sent Yarn's RAV4 through the front entrance of Hounds Town, located in the 3600 block of First Street East.

Yarn was taken into custody without further incident.

He faces charges of possession of fentanyl with intent to sell, possession of cocaine, possession of oxycodone, possession of marijuana, possession of methadone, fleeing and eluding, and aggravated assault, according to the sheriff's office.

The investigation remains ongoing, and detectives have indicated that additional charges are possible.
