Arizona man charged after allegedly orchestrating assault on fiancée via Reddit
A Buckeye man was taken into custody Thursday after police say he arranged for another man to sexually assault his fiancée through an online agreement made on Reddit, azfamily.com reports.
Zarian Dyer, 23, was arrested at his workplace near Roosevelt Street and Verrado Way on charges including aggravated assault, sexual abuse, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping and conspiracy.
The case began on the evening of 16 October, when Buckeye police responded to a home near Southern Avenue and Miller Road. Bella Torres reported that an unknown man had entered her house and attacked her while she was inside with her two children. Torres fought off the intruder.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Adrian Ayala of Goodyear, fled the scene but was arrested the following day at his home.
Home security footage captured during the assault showed Ayala telling Torres that her partner had sent him, and that an agreement had been made through Reddit for him to carry out the attack. Ayala's attorney repeated that claim in court.
Detectives subsequently searched devices belonging to both Ayala and Dyer. Data recovered from those devices reportedly contained evidence of an online arrangement for Ayala to attack Torres. Police said they have not established a motive for the plot.
Torres told azfamily.com after the attack that she did not know Ayala and had not believed at the time that her partner knew him either.
Dyer's booking photo was not immediately available following his arrest.
