Tupac murder convict Keffe D transferred to High Desert State Prison
Duane "Keffe D" Davis, convicted of orchestrating the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur, has been moved to a maximum-security facility in the Las Vegas area just weeks after receiving a sentence of 40 years to life.
According to tmz.com, Davis — aged 63 — was transferred from a Las Vegas jail to High Desert State Prison following his sentencing on 13 October. A jury had found him guilty of first-degree murder in August.
Prosecutors argued that Davis helped plan the fatal drive-by shooting as retaliation for an earlier altercation: Tupac and members of his entourage had attacked Davis' nephew, Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the night of the shooting.
Tupac Shakur was shot while riding in a BMW alongside Death Row Records founder Suge Knight on 7 September 1996. He died six days later at the age of 25.
Davis was the only person ever charged in connection with the rapper's killing, a case that had remained unsolved for nearly three decades.
His legal team has maintained his innocence and has indicated it intends to appeal the conviction.
