Panamanian Coach Nabbed in Dominican Republic Over Tennessee Sex Assault Charges

A man sought in Tennessee on charges of sexually assaulting multiple minors while involved in a youth baseball program has been arrested in the Dominican Republic and returned to the United States, livenowfox.com reports.

Fernando Gonzalez Ramirez, 32, a Panamanian citizen, faces state charges in Williamson County linked to alleged assaults involving several boys in Franklin, Tennessee, occurring between 2023 and 2024.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the investigation was launched after two boys reported that Gonzalez had assaulted them. Gonzalez subsequently fled Tennessee upon learning that law enforcement was investigating him.

U.S. Marshals tracked him across multiple countries — Mexico, Japan, and Panama — before receiving information on Monday that he was located in the Dominican Republic. A lead was forwarded to the agency's foreign field office there, and Gonzalez was taken into custody within hours.

He was flown to New Jersey on Tuesday evening and is now awaiting extradition to Tennessee, where he will face the pending state charges. The prosecution is being handled by the Office of Stacey B. Edmonson, district attorney general for Tennessee's 21st Judicial District.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities believe Gonzalez may have additional, as yet unidentified victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-877-WANTED2 or by email at [email protected].
