Eight arrested in Kentucky home over child abuse and trafficking investigation

Eight residents of a Kentucky home have been arrested following a sweeping child abuse and sexual exploitation investigation, nbcnews.com reports. Seven victims, aged between one and 17, were removed from the property.

The suspects face charges including abuse, incest, human trafficking and rape. Bail has been set at amounts ranging from $50,000 to $125,000, according to a statement by Richmond police spokesperson Makenzie Gould.

All eight defendants are scheduled to appear before a Madison County judge on 21 October.

The arrests were the result of a joint investigation involving Richmond police, Child Protective Services and the Department for Community Based Services.

"I'm unsure of the exact family relations between all eight members," Gould said. "All are listed as living at the same residence. All seven children were removed from this same residence."

It was not immediately clear on Wednesday whether the defendants had retained or been assigned criminal defence lawyers.
