Three dead near Ukiah after father allegedly kills children and himself

A 44-year-old man and his two young children — a 14-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy — were found dead on Friday morning at a property on the 6800 block of Old River Road, south of Talmage Road near Ukiah, according to pressdemocrat.com.

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office received a call at 10:19 a.m. on 9 October reporting two children at the residence in need of emergency medical assistance. People at the property transported the children to meet emergency medical services near the Mendocino County Office of Education along Old River Road.

Both children were unresponsive and without pulses when paramedics arrived. Despite CPR and other life-saving efforts, neither child survived and both were declared dead at the scene. Investigators subsequently confirmed the two were siblings.

Law enforcement officers responding to the original address discovered the body of the 44-year-old man at the same property. Authorities determined he was the father of the two children.

Investigators believe the man was at home with his children Friday morning before killing them and then himself, the Sheriff's Office stated in a news release.

No motive has been released. The names of the three individuals have been withheld. Authorities confirmed there are no outstanding suspects and no continuing threat to the surrounding community.

The coroner's investigation is ongoing. No additional findings were available as of Sunday afternoon.
