Suspect in Eden Prairie homecoming shooting freed after posting bond

The 18-year-old charged with opening fire on two teenagers outside Eden Prairie High School after a homecoming football game has been released from custody, fox9.com reports, citing Hennepin County jail records.

Adam Abdihakeem Adam faces charges of assault and riot, both involving a dangerous weapon. He posted a $100,000 bond — with a cash payment of $10,000, typically 10% of the court-set amount — and walked free just after 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, 9 October. His first court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Monday, 12 October, in Hennepin County Court.

According to court documents, surveillance footage captured two cars pulling into a parking lot shortly before the shooting on the evening of 2 October. A brawl involving around ten people then broke out near the vehicles. The driver of one of the cars stepped out, fired at the two victims, and fled the scene.

Investigators identified Adam as that driver. He had been using his brother's car at the time. Phone data linked Adam's device to the vehicle before, during, and after the shooting. Following the incident, he discarded his phone and changed his number.

Officers later executed a search warrant at Adam's residence in St. Louis Park. Inside, they recovered clothing that matched what the shooter had been wearing in the surveillance footage, the charges state.

The two victims, both teenagers, were struck by gunfire outside the school during the homecoming event. The case remains before Hennepin County Court.
