Ex-Pensacola Officer Charged with Child Sexual Abuse Material and Bestiality

A former part-time officer with the Pensacola Police Department has been arrested on 40 criminal counts after Florida state investigators discovered child sexual abuse material, bestiality videos, and covert restroom recordings on his personal devices, fox10tv.com reported Monday.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) took Matthew Baxter, 47, into custody Monday on four counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, 30 counts of sexual activity involving animals, four counts of digital voyeurism, and two counts of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

The new arrest stems from a forensic examination of electronic devices seized during an earlier investigation. Earlier this month, Baxter — who had worked as a part-time officer with the department since 2018 — was arrested on felony drug charges related to possession of controlled substances without a prescription. During that forensic analysis, FDLE agents found multiple files of child sexual abuse material, videos depicting sexual activity involving animals, and image files of unknown individuals taken in various restrooms.

Agents arrested Baxter without incident, with assistance from the Office of Agriculture – Law Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service. He was booked into the Escambia County Jail.
