A 15-year-old has been arrested in connection with a mass shooting in Tallahassee, Florida, that left 11 people injured, katv.com reports. The shooting occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Saturday, 24 October, near Perry and Manatee streets. No deaths have been reported.
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell announced on Sunday, 25 October, that detectives had arrested Anthony Rivers III. In consultation with State Attorney Jack Campbell, the teenager is being charged with 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent.
Revell described the arrest as "a significant step forward," but confirmed the investigation remains active and that additional arrests are possible.
Investigators believe a physical altercation preceded the shooting. Detectives have also established that none of the 11 injured victims appear to have been intended targets, Revell said.
As of a Sunday morning update, five victims had been discharged from hospital while six remained under treatment. One of those still hospitalised was listed in critical condition.
Officers responded immediately to the scene, and detectives from the department's Violent Crimes Unit worked through the night reviewing digital evidence and investigative leads. Canvassing of the area and collection of physical evidence continued into Sunday morning.
