Four Men Charged Over Shooting of NFL Player Keion White at San Francisco Nightclub
Four men have been arrested in connection with the shooting of San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Keion White, Google News MT — Crime (en) reports, citing officials who announced the arrests on Wednesday.
The incident took place just after 4 a.m. on 9 February at Dahlia, a crowded Mission District nightclub where White was hosting a private Super Bowl party. He was shot in the ankle and transported to a local hospital for surgery.
San Francisco Police Chief Derrick Lew said that on the night of the shooting, multiple armed suspects "confronted" White. Investigators identified the perpetrators using video footage and witness accounts, with assistance from law enforcement agencies in Atlanta, Stockton, Irvine and Los Angeles.
On 7 October, local authorities arrested 35-year-old Curtis Green in Irvine, California. Two days later, 36-year-old Gregory Walker of Mountain House, California, was also taken into custody. Both men were booked into San Francisco County Jail on Monday and were scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said prosecutors would seek no bail for Walker, citing the public safety risk he is alleged to pose. Walker faces charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm — which prosecutors allege he discharged — along with additional charges for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. Green faces misdemeanor charges of brandishing a firearm and carrying a concealed, loaded weapon in public.
A message was left with the San Francisco public defender's office to establish whether its attorneys were representing either man.
Two additional suspects arrested in other jurisdictions remain outside local custody and will face charges once transferred to San Francisco, Jenkins said. One, a 38-year-old man arrested on 7 October in Atlanta on a no-bail warrant, had an illegal firearm seized at the time of his arrest. Authorities also recovered thousands of grams of MDMA, methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl at his home.
That same day, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Stockton, California, in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement recovered a loaded firearm, more than 100 oxycodone pills and $7,000 in cash at the scene.
White has played in all five of the 49ers' games so far this season, recording three sacks.
