Gainesville Resident Admits to Armed Drug Trafficking After 1,200g Meth Seizure

Eddie Jerome Scott, 38, of Gainesville, Florida, pleaded guilty on Monday to armed drug trafficking charges, wcjb.com reports. He now faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of life in federal prison.

According to court documents, Scott sold methamphetamine from his home during August and September 2025. A search carried out by Gainesville Police Department officers in September 2025 uncovered more than 1,200 grams of methamphetamine, 18.5 grams of cocaine, nearly one-third of a gram of fentanyl, marijuana, and other drug-related materials.

Officers also recovered a pistol at the property. Scott was legally prohibited from possessing any firearms due to prior felony drug convictions.

John P. Heekin of the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Florida announced the guilty plea. Sentencing has been scheduled for 1 September 2026.
