Lauren Winans, 31, from Kentucky has been arrested on charges of incest, sodomy, and sexual abuse of a child believed to be younger than 12, dailystar.co.uk reports, citing court documents from Nelson Circuit Court.

According to an indictment, Winans "committed the offence of incest when she had sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with a person whom she knew to be an ancestor who was less than twelve years of age." The alleged abuse is said to have taken place between 1 January 2022 and 20 November 2022.

The victim, referred to only as C.G.W. in court documents, is a relative of Winans, though the precise relationship has not been made public. Winans faces three separate counts covering incest, sodomy, and sexual abuse.

Kentucky arrest records list Winans as having "strawberry blonde hair" and "green eyes." She is currently being held on a $250,000 bond. According to the New York Post's assessment of her charges, she could face up to life in prison if convicted.

Her arraignment is scheduled to take place at Nelson Circuit Court on 5 November.

A statement from the Nelson County Sheriff's Office confirmed that a man believed to be Winans' husband, Andy Winans, had resigned from his role there in early 2026 and subsequently joined the Bardstown Police Department. The office stated it was not aware of the allegations against Lauren Winans and holds no details regarding the case.

"The Kentucky State Police (KSP) is the primary investigating agency regarding the allegations involving Lauren Winans," the statement read. "The Nelson County Sheriff's Office was not aware of these allegations, holds no details regarding the case, and is not involved in the investigation. Inquiries should be directed to KSP."

The Sheriff's Office added: "Our office remains fully committed to accountability, transparency, and upholding the trust of the Nelson County community."

There is no suggestion that Andy Winans or any other individual is involved in the alleged abuse.
