Man charged with domestic violence murder after woman found dead in Bremen, Kentucky

Kentucky State Police Post 2 is investigating the death of a 39-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside a residence on Wild Horse Lane in Bremen, Kentucky, on 5 October 2026, according to kentuckystatepolice.ky.gov.

The Muhlenberg County Sheriff's Office initially conducted a welfare check at the property and found the deceased woman inside. Deputies then contacted Kentucky State Police for assistance. Troopers identified the victim as Amber DeArmond of Drakesboro, Kentucky. A preliminary investigation indicates DeArmond suffered a gunshot wound to the head. An autopsy has been requested, and the Muhlenberg County Coroner's Office assisted at the scene. DeArmond's family has been notified.

Troopers subsequently located 33-year-old Skyler Shanks of Bremen on KY-70. Shanks attempted to evade law enforcement by concealing himself beneath the porch of a nearby residence before fleeing on foot toward a wooded area. Trooper Leevi McMillin deployed his Taser, and Shanks was taken into custody.

Shanks was lodged in the Muhlenberg County Detention Center. He faces charges including murder-domestic violence, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree criminal trespassing, first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and public intoxication.

Detective Kirby Broadbent is the lead investigator. The investigation remains ongoing.
