Molino resident charged with felony drug offence following Pensacola vehicle stop
A 41-year-old woman from Molino was arrested on a felony drug charge late Monday night after a routine traffic stop in Pensacola, northescambia.com reports.
Inez Yaminah Lyons was charged with possession of cocaine after a Pensacola Police officer pulled over a vehicle near Davis Highway and Chadwick Street for an expired registration tag.
According to the arrest report, an officer first observed a black Kia Soul bearing a Tennessee licence plate in the car park of Smart Fill on North Davis Highway. A records check showed the registration had been expired since November 2024. Officers initiated a stop once the vehicle moved off, intercepting it at the intersection of Kenneth and Wynnhurst streets.
Lyons was travelling as a rear-seat passenger. She gave officers consent to search her person, during which police found a clear plastic bag containing approximately 0.5 grams of a white powder in her pants pocket. A field test returned a positive result for cocaine.
A K-9 unit deployed to the scene alerted to the odour of narcotics inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the car, however, produced no additional contraband.
Lyons was released from custody after posting a $2,500 bond.
