Madison County jury convicts man in fatal 2024 shooting
Renardo May has been found guilty on two counts of intentional murder following a multi-day trial in a Madison County courtroom, waff.com reports. The verdict stems from the July 2, 2024, shooting of 40-year-old Jonathan Parcus on Swancott Road, where Parcus had been living.
Parcus was shot during what a trial witness described as a dice game involving himself, Parcus, and May. According to the witness, May produced a firearm mid-game and attempted to rob both men. He succeeded in taking from Parcus but not from the witness.
Parcus then left the scene, retrieved a gun, and went after May. A gunfight followed, though the witness said it was unclear who fired first. The witness also stated that no one else was outside when the shooting began — only May and Parcus.
Parcus succumbed to his injuries on July 18, 2024, more than two weeks after the shooting. May fled the scene in a GMC that was described as riddled with bullets. He was located and arrested in Michigan approximately a month after the incident.
On Wednesday, the jury returned a guilty verdict on both counts. May is scheduled to be sentenced in August 2026.
