Two teens held over alleged plot to attack Corona High School

Two 15-year-old girls from Riverside County, California, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiring to carry out a shooting at Corona High School, abc7.com reports.

The investigation was triggered earlier this month after the FBI flagged social media threats to the Corona Police Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's Office. Detectives subsequently arrested one suspect who attends Corona High School and a second who attends Norco High School.

Search warrants executed at several homes in Riverside County revealed that the pair had spent several months researching school shootings and discussing how a potential attack on Corona High School could be carried out. Investigators also found evidence that the two had talked about how to obtain weapons for such an attack.

No weapons were recovered during any of the searches, police confirmed.

Both teenagers remain in custody facing charges of conspiracy to commit murder. The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Corona Police Department Detective Edwards at 951-279-3656 or [email protected].
