Wilmington Woman Opens Fire Outside New Castle Bar After Purse Dispute
The Delaware State Police arrested Tiffany Morales, 37, of Wilmington on felony firearm and related charges after she fired multiple shots at patrons outside a sports bar in New Castle in the early hours of Sunday, 4 October 2026, according to dsp.delaware.gov.
Troopers responded at approximately 1:30 a.m. to the 3800 block of North Dupont Highway following reports of shots fired. Officers found spent shell casings near the building. Victims at the scene identified Morales as the shooter, and she was taken into custody without incident shortly afterwards.
The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit assumed control of the case. Preliminary findings indicate that Morales dropped her purse during a physical altercation with a separate individual. The victims picked up the purse and returned it to her. Morales then accused them of stealing it.
Following the confrontation, Morales went to her vehicle, retrieved a handgun, and pointed it at one of the victims before discharging multiple rounds. Detectives subsequently recovered evidence of the crime inside her car. No injuries to the victims or property damage were reported as a result of the shooting.
Morales was transported to a local hospital for unrelated, non-life-threatening injuries. She was charged with the firearm offences, arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court, and committed to the Department of Correction on a $23,000 cash bond.
Any individual charged in this release is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
