Murder suspect jailed 42 months for illegal firearm and ammo in St Vincent

Jarell Phillips, 24, charged with the murder of St. Lucian Troy Casley in Lowmans Hill, has been sentenced to 42 months for firearm offences.

Murder accused sentenced for gun and ammunition offences ahead of trial

Jarell Phillips, 24, of Redemption Sharpes, has been jailed for firearm and ammunition possession while he awaits trial on a murder charge, iWitness News reports.

Phillips appeared before the Serious Offences Court and pleaded guilty to possessing an unlicensed firearm, unlawful ammunition, and three traffic offences — including driving without a licence, driving an unlicensed vehicle, and driving without third-party insurance.

Chief Magistrate Colin John sentenced Phillips to 42 months' imprisonment for the firearm, 18 months for the ammunition, and three months each for the traffic violations. All sentences will run concurrently.

Phillips and Delroy Harry, 21, a labourer of Lowmans Hill, are jointly charged with the murder of Troy Casley, 34, a St. Lucian national, who was killed in Lowmans Hill on June 23.

Both men have also been charged with attempted murder in connection with gunshot injuries sustained by Shamel John, 22, of Lower Questelles, and Nashon Simmons, 33, of Campden Park, during the same incident.

The murder and attempted murder charges remain before the court.
