Investigators close in on killers of stabbed St Vincent student

St Vincent police are closing in on those responsible for the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old student Tafari Browne, stvincenttimes.com reports.

Browne died on 12 October after being stabbed multiple times. Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Brenton Smith, who oversees crime operations, told SVGTV News that he is confident law enforcement will bring those responsible to justice.

No formal arrests have been made. ACP Smith said police have taken several individuals in for questioning and subsequently released them as the investigation continues.

Smith described the case as one "very dear to the officers" and condemned the repeated stabbing as evidence of a troubling disregard for human life.

Officers from the Major Crime Unit are actively pursuing leads, supported by police intelligence across ranks and information from the public. ACP Smith declined to give a specific timeline for charges but expressed full confidence in his team.

The killing comes amid wider concern over violent crime in St. Vincent. ACP Smith acknowledged the grief suffered by families who have lost relatives to homicide across the island.

Police figures show St. Vincent has recorded 42 homicides so far this year, 39 of which have been officially classified as murders.
