21 Pounds of Cannabis Seized at Deep Water Harbour in Joint Police-Customs Operation

Police and customs officers uncovered 21 pounds of suspected cannabis, valued at approximately EC$126,000, during a joint operation at the Deep Water Harbour Cargo Shed on Wednesday morning, antigua.news reports.

Members of the Narcotics Department and the Customs Enforcement Unit searched a brown E-Container cardboard box declared to contain food items at around 11:30 a.m. Inside, they discovered a second concealed box holding 21 vacuum-sealed packages of vegetable material consistent in appearance with cannabis.

The packages were transported to Police Headquarters, where they were weighed and examined. Investigations into the origin and destination of the shipment are continuing.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda stated it will maintain its collaborative approach with customs and other border-security partners to intercept illicit goods at the country's ports of entry.
