Toronto police have identified the second victim found in a burning vehicle last week, cbc.ca reports. Mohamud Kheyre, 30, was discovered when officers responded to a vehicle fire in a parking lot near Royal York Road and Edenbridge Drive in Etobicoke shortly before 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

The body had been badly burned, which delayed identification, Det. Sgt. Henri Marsman said at a news conference Friday.

Approximately 90 minutes before the Etobicoke incident, officers were called to a vehicle fire in a field near Steeles Avenue E. and Reesor Road in Scarborough. That victim, 32-year-old Marcus Charles of Scarborough, had been identified previously.

Both incidents are being investigated as homicides, Marsman said. Police confirmed that both men were killed before being placed in the burning vehicles, and that each had been targeted. Marsman added that there is no safety risk to the general public.

One of the vehicles involved was a rental car; the other had been stolen from somewhere in the Greater Toronto Area, according to Marsman.

The two deaths represent Toronto's 27th and 28th homicides of 2026, police said Sunday. Marsman did not confirm a connection between the two incidents.
