A joint operation between the Argentine Federal Police, SIDE and the Office of the Prosecutor for Narco-criminality made it possible to capture Andrés "Plin" Acosta in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Monserrat, who was among the ten most-wanted fugitives from the province of Santa Fe. The arrest took place outside the Museum nightclub, in Commune 1, when officials from the Federal Investigation Department intercepted him.
The 41-year-old man was the subject of an intense search for his alleged membership in a criminal association linked to the trafficking of narcotics. He was also being investigated for his possible participation in attacks on school buildings and a police station in Santa Fe territory.
The investigation indicates that the now-detained man would have connections with the criminal faction nicknamed "Los Menores" and with sectors of the crowd at Rosario Central football club. This latter group is reported to have assumed leadership of the stand following the murders of two bar leaders: Andrés "Pillín" Bracamonte and Daniel "Rana" Attardo.
Once apprehended, Acosta was placed at the disposal of the judiciary. The ongoing investigation aims to dismantle networks that combine drug trafficking with organised violence in the region. The arrest constitutes an important advance in the fight against these structures that operate both in Santa Fe and in the nation's capital.
