Murder in Arlon: arrest warrant extended for two accused in death of Quentin Schmitz
The body of Quentin Schmitz, 39, a homeless man originally from Bastogne, was found on 27 September in the car park of Arlon railway station.

Two accused held in custody for a further month following death of homeless man in Arlon
The chamber of the council in Marche-en-Famenne extended by one month on Friday 30 October the arrest warrant for the two men accused of the murder of Quentin Schmitz, according to DHnet. The victim, aged 39 and originally from Bastogne, was found dead on Sunday 27 September in the covered car park of Arlon railway station.
A former firefighter, Quentin Schmitz had drifted into homelessness following the death of his brother in a road accident. He had been living on the streets in Arlon for some time before his death. The circumstances appear to have involved a fight with alcohol consumption: the victim is said to have received several violent blows to the head, leading to his death.
The two accused are themselves close to the homeless community in Arlon; one of them is also homeless. Their lawyers have not sought their release at this stage, but contest the intention to kill.
"It is still too early for the chamber of the council to reclassify the facts," said Ms Ines Pauporté, lawyer for one of the accused. "My client contests the facts. It also appears to us that there was no intention to kill."
The investigation continues: a reconstruction and further hearings remain among the tasks to be completed.
